People new in recovery can be triggerd by certain things that may lead them to pick up a drug or a drink.  Newcomers should avoid people, places and things that fotolia_9456476_xsremind them of using drugs and alcohol.  They must develop new ideas, beliefs, and relationships in order to be successful in sobriety.The disease of addiciton centers in the mind, so anything that reminds a drug addicit of using could bring about a relapse.  Hanging around old using friends, driving down certain streets, and hanging out at places where the recovering addict used drugs and alcohol should be avoided in early recovery.  When the addict has a foundation and a program of recovery these things are not so dangerous.
